Revel in the abundance of late spring in the Pacific Northwest! In this class we will learn about & design with the botanical beauties of May. Light and airy poppies, lush peonies, ranunculus, iris and other locally grown delights will be on hand for students to choose from.

The flowers of May offer a fantastic opportunity to explore color. How can you maximize the effect of color in your design - from gentle hues to bold bright choices? What makes a color story succeed, and how does the palette of each bloom effect its neighbor? Can we find our way to affection for a color that challenges us? Let’s find out!

Hannah Morgan will demonstrate the fundamentals of the Fortunate Orchard design style and discuss sustainability, sourcing and caring for cut flowers and foliage. After Hannah’s demo students will dive in, creating their own floral centerpiece in an 8” footed bowl. The finished arrangement will be perfect for a dining table or mantel, and you will have the knowledge to design with flowers throughout the seasons.

Class will be held indoors at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands, and space is limited to 12 students. Delicious snacks will be served, to fuel the body as we dig deep into creativity, finding inspiration in nature. Please note: Pre-registration is required; classes are non-refundable but are transferable.
